Pitcairn Island
The Pitcairn Islands were discovered in 1767 by the British. Pitcairn was the first Pacific island to become a British colony (in 1838) and today remains the last vestige of that empire in the South Pacific. Famous as the home of Fletcher Christian, other crew members and their Tahitian companions, after the Mutiny on the Bounty, from 1790 to 1808. The Pitcairns are group of islands over 1,000 miles south-east of Tahiti. Only the main island of Pitcairn itself is inhabited, and even its population has declined from a peak of 233 to less than 50, despite the best attempts by the islanders to regenerate its population, which have become the focus of recent international news.
Its main economic activity is stated the sale of postage stamps to collectors.

Pitcairn Island Coins
Its normal circulation coinage is that of New Zealand, but it also issues attractive commemorative coins for collectors. These were first issued in 1988, before this British coins were used.
Also Krause lists various Pitcairn Island coins, neither ot the two we show are listed in the edition we are using.
