The Story of the Quarter Farthing |
|
|
The Quarter Farthing was struck between 1839 and 1853 (with a proof issued in 1868), exclusively for circulation in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). This coin did not circulate in Britain itself because such a low denomination coin was not needed in what was then the wealthiest country in the world.
