Rough Diamonds
Rough diamonds are any and all diamonds which have not yet been polished. They are often called simply "rough" in the trade, although the words uncut or unpolished are also used.
The term "rough" is used for all qualities of diamond. It does not indicate any particular quality, except for the fact that they have not yet been cut or polished.

Kimberley Process
On January 1, 2003, the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme for international trade in rough diamonds was implemented.
Importers, exporters and shippers of rough diamonds - which could include jewelers; diamond mining and exploration companies; tool, equipment and machinery manufacturers; and companies in the cutting and polishing industry - are affected by this certification system.

Rough Guide to Diamonds
About the only subject for which there is no Rough Guide is diamonds. Our Diamond Glossary could be considered our own "Rough Guide to Diamonds". Perhaps this page should be called our "Diamond Guide to Rough"?

Rough Diamonds Scam
As ever, whenever there is potential big money involved, there are scammers, crooks and con artists trying to make a quick buck out of unsuspecting punters.
