Vancouver 'Trade Dollar' 1990 Silver Medallion
This coin (or more accurately, token or medallion) was struck and issued for the Canadian Numismatic Association's 1990 Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada.
The Canadian Numismatic Association was founded in 1955 as a non-profit organisation to educate members and wider society on the subject of numismatics, specifically Canadian numismatics. The CNA received a Royal Warrant in 2007, and subsequently changed its name to the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA).
This silver token was exchangable for 20 Canadian Dollars, although I suspect that most would have been kept as souvenirs (especially as the vast majority attending this conference were numismatists!
CNA/RCNA 'trade dollars' typically have a theme relating to the conference's host city, as is the case here.
