Waltham are probably one of the oldest British watch companies (with the possible exception of Rolex who are now based in Switzerland). They are now part of Time Products. The certificate states that they were established in 1749.
Gent's Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch
We recently acquired the gent's 9 carat gold pocket watch in our photographs.
It is still working, but is likely to be in need of a service.

Half Hunters
A "hunter" pocket watch is one with a case made to close fully over the watch dial, to protect it during physical activites such as hunting. A "half hunter" is similar, but with a window in the front cover so that, although the dial was protected, it could still be read without opening the case. This obviously made it easier to read the time whilst riding.
Warranty & Directions
As you can see, this watch comes complete with its warranty, dated 19th March 1924, the reverse of which contains "Directions for the Management of this Watch".
