Oman - Gold 2 1/2 Ryals The Sultanate of Oman was previously known as Muscat and Oman until 1971. Its currency is denominated in Rials, with 1,000 Baisa per Rial. Our featured coin, a gold 2.5 rials, was issued for the "Save the Children" Fund, and shows a group of Omani children receiving an al-fresco lesson from their teacher under the shade of a tree.
