Uganda Only explored since about 1830, Uganda became a British Protectorate in 1896, and was granted independence in 1962. We show one of a number of silver crowns issued to celebrate the soccer world cup in 2002.
United Kingdom - Halfpenny The figure of Britannia, the personification of Britain, first appeared on Roman coins, and is about 2000 years old. Our photo shows a halfpenny of George III from 1771.
U.S.A. - Silver Dollar America's silver dollar must be its most famous coins, and the Morgan or Liberty head type shown is surely the best loved and spectacular of them.
USSR - 150 Roubles The USSR was established in 1922 based on the former Russian kingdom, and split up in 1991 to become the Russian Federation. Our photo shows a platinum 150 roubles of 1977 commemorating the Moscow Olympics of 1980.
