Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medallion
In 1977 the Royal Mint issued an official silver jubilee medallion to commemorate the silver jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. This continues a traditional of issuing medallions for coronations and other important royal events.
Very appropriately for a silver jubilee, it is struck in silver. There are at least two different sizes issued, the larger one weighs 88.2 grams, while the smaller one weighs 51.6 grams.

Obverse
The obverse shows a portrait of the Queen, seated facing on a throne, holding a sceptre and mace, in the style of the Henry VII gold sovereigns, with the inscription.

Reverse
The reverse shows a tudor rose within a represention of a crown, with the inscription:-
VIVAT REGINA
1952 1977
The inscription translates as (Long) Live The Queen

Edge
The edge bears a silver hallmark, with the sponsor's mark (initials) JRC. This hallmark includes the special "Silver Jubilee" hallmark which was in use for the jubilee year only.
