25 Years of the Australian Kookaburra
The 2015 kookaburra celebrates 25 years of the popular coin series. In order to commemorate such an event, the Perth Mint have used the original design, as first issued in 1990.
The kookaburra coins are very appealing to collectors, as the reverse design changes each year. We think this year will prove to be in strong demand, as only 500,000 of the one ounce coins will be minted. There will be no issue limit on the other sizes.
As always, each coin comes in its own protective plastic capsule.
Sold Out At Perth Mint
We were informed on 23rd, March, 2015, that the Perth Mint have sold out of all of the 500,000 1oz coins. We still have them in stock, but it means once they're gone, they're gone!

The laughing kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher species and is synonymous with the Australian outback. Kookaburras are carnivores and eat young birds, insects, reptiles, snakes and mice. Although they are native to Australia, they can also be found in New Guinea and the Aru Islands.
