The Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands are a small group of three islands in the Caribbean, nearly halfway from Cuba to Honduras. They were discovered by Columbus in 1503, colonized from Jamaica by the British during the 18th and 19th centuries. Administered by Jamaica since 1863, they remained a British dependency after 1962 when Jamaica became independent. The Caymans have been self-governing since 1972.

Cayman Islands Coins
Cayman Islands own coins were first issued in 1972, before this Jamaican coins were used. The 1972 coin issued for the Queen's silver wedding anniversary were the first British coins for 300 years to portray a living person or a member of the Royal Family other than the reigning monarch.
