Johnson Matthey of Hatton Garden London
Johnson Matthey are one of the best known names for precious metals including silver bullion. Johnson Matthey Bankers Limited used to be an important UK merchant bank, and one of the five gold pool members, meeting twice daily to decide the London Gold Fixing Price, and also taking part in the daily London SIlver Fixing. The bank had to be rescued in 1984 by the Bank of England's famous lifeboat. Many of the component parts of the old Johnson Matthey company still exist and still trade, and precious metals including gold silver and platinum are still a major part of their business.
