Mocatta Goldsmid 1 Kilo Silver Bar

We see a wide variety of silver bullion bars, and often get asked for them by brand name. Quite apart from any investment value, they seem to become a collector's item and are also very popular as gifts. The One Kilo size is the weight we are most frequently asked for.
As a result, we have worked hard to source as many different makes as possible, and try to keep as wide a selection as possible in stock. Naturally we do have to charge slightly more for these than for bars of "our choice". Even so, sometimes we completely run out of stock of silver bars of all makes and sizes. Because very few refiners now make silver bars, it is possible for us to go for several months without being able to buy a single bar. When bars are available we often buy the entire lot which can be from 50 kilos in total up to about 500 kilos (half a ton). As these might be sourced from anywhere in the world, we then have to get them shipped and insured to our premises. We can usually only manage to buy such lots about three or four times a year.
We see numerous different makes or brands of silver bullion bars, including Schöne B.V. of Amsterdam, which we can offer at competitive prices.
If we have the bar you want in stock, it is best to buy it while it is available, as we only have any one type of bar in stock about 50% of the time.

Mocatta Goldsmid One Kilo Silver Bars

Some of the most famous makers get their bars made by other refiners under contract. In such cases, it is possible to find bars with the names or stamps of two different refiners. The bar shown in our photograph is a Mocatta Goldsmid bar, but with an Engelhard stamp. This was undoubtedly made by Engelhard under contract to Mocatta Goldsmid. For the collector, this means you virtually get two bars for the price of one!
