Design Change
For the second series, it looks as though the reverse design for each year will be identical for all sizes (weights), while both the denomination (face value), and weight will be shown on the obverse, as can be seen from our photographs.
The second series also features the Chinese character for the animal the year represents, so the 2011 coins feature the Chinese character for Rabbit.
Year of the Rabbit Dates
The Chinese year 4708 starts on the February 3rd 2011.
One Ounce Silver Bullion Coins
Australia first issued a one ounce silver bullion coin, the Kookaburra, in 1990.
In 1999, it was decided to issue a silver Chinese Lunar Year series of silver bullion coins, following the success of the gold versions which started in 1996.
7 or 8 Sizes of Silver Bullion Coins
In 1992, the Perth Mint introduced large silver bullion coins, in weights of two ounce, ten ounces and one kilogramme (32.15 ounces). For lunar silver coins, there is also a half ounce version, a 5 ounce, and a half kilo.

2011 Issue
We will have large quantities of most sizes of the 2011 Australian coins, we can probably obtain the 10 kilo version on request.
Many people ask us for next year's coins in the approach to Chinese New Year, and we believe that these will be very popular this year.
The Australian coins are made to very high standards of design and production. Each coin also comes in its own protective plastic capsule.

Series 1
Because its gold series started in 1996, and its first silver series did not start until 1999, the two series are three years out of phase with each other. Obviously, the coins relate to their correct years, but the start and end of the coins cycle is different.
To correct this, the Perth Mint decided to issue the 2008 Year of the Rat - Series 1, 2009 Year of the Ox - Series 1, and 2010 Year of the Tiger - Series 1 silver coins between 23rd July 2007 and 31st August 2007.
