1999 British £5 Crown - Princess Diana Memorial
In 1999 the British Royal Mint will issued a crown, to commemorate Princess Diana, in cupro-nickel, silver proof and gold.
Her Majesty the Queen has approved a recommendation from the Chancellor of the Exchequer that a commemorative crown piece should be issued in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Committee feel that an official United Kingdom coin will be welcomed as a simple and tasteful way in which many people, both here and in many other countries, will wish to remember her.
Obverse
The coin will bear on the obverse a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.
Reverse
The reverse a portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Edge
The edge of the crown is milled.
