An attractive one kilo coin, this coin is quite unusual in the fact that both the obverse and the reverse feature an image of a rooster.
Reverse
The reverse features a real-life portrait of a rooster, similar to that on the 2005 Chinese Lunar Calendar Rooster coin from the Perth Mint in Australia. The denomination of 300 Yuan is also shown.
Obverse
The obverse features a more cartoon-like image of a rooster, the date, and some Chinese writing. We are not sure what this Chinese writing translates as, but there is a pint in it for anyone who knows!
Packaging
The coin is encapsulated in an unusual hexadecagonal (sixteen-sided) capsule inside a heavy wooden box. The box (shown in the photo) then fits neatly inside a decorative silk covered box.

In April 2009, when we created this page, we noticed a similar coin, but for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, on Amazon at two wildy differing prices $2,800 and $1,299 US. Either price makes us look too cheap!
