Ten Kilo Silver Coin - Possibly the Largest Silver Coin in the World!
The ten kilo Chinese Lunar Year series were first issued last year for the Year of the Dog. They have a face value of $300.

2007 - Year of the Boar
The Chinese year 4705 is the year of the boar, and runs from February 18th 2007 to February 6th 2008.

Design
The 10 Kilo coin features the same design as the smaller coins of a piglet on a bed of leaves but also has 'a border of bats and clouds, the traditional Chinese symbols of health, peace and prosperity.'
The obverse is Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Production Notes
One of the world's largest coins at 220 mms (about 11 inches) in diameter, and weighing 10 kilos. Each coin takes 2 or 3 days to produce, as currently they are not die-struck, but milled using the cutting tools normally used to create the steel dies. Because of this, each coin may show some slight variation. The surface finish is not as high as might normally be expected, especially from the Perth Mint, whose production is usually superb. One coin receives individual finishing.

Presentation and Packaging
The ten kilo coin is different to the smaller coins in that it is not in a round plastic capsule, it is presented rather nicely in a square perspex case held together with brass screws.
Unusually for a bullion coin it is also supplied with a certificate of authenticity containing it's unique issue number and confirming the specifications.
Our images show the ten kilo silver year of the boar complete in its' perspex display case. However, if you would like to see a ten kilo coin outside of its' case please see our Year of the Dog page.

Issue Limit
The ten kilo coins are limited to strictly 1,000 pieces. Our ten kilo Year of the Boar is issue number 24 of 1,000. At present we only have one of each design in stock, so buy now to avoid disappointment.
