Obverse:
First bust of King Charles II, facing right. 1663 is the only date of halfcrown on which this portrait appears.
The obverse inscription reads:
CAROLUS II DEI GRATIA
Reverse:
Crowned cruciform shields type. The shields contain a harp for Ireland, three leopards, three fleurs-de-lys, and a
lion rampant. In the centre are the Prince of Wales' feathers, and in the "angles" between each pair of shields two interlinked letter C's signifying Charles II.
The reverse legend reads:
MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX 1663

The edge is inscribed in raised letters:
