In 2013, the United Kingdom Royal Mint issued a fifty pence coin to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Christopher Ironside, designer of the UK's first set of decimal coins.
His Britannia design was adopted in 1969 for the introduction of the fifty pence, but along with that design he submitted a version of the Royal Arms. This design was liked so much by members of The Royal Mint Advisory Committee that trial pieces of the design were made, and now in 2013 it makes its first appearance on a coin.
