Christmas Sixpences
Tradition has it that the Christmas pudding is made on the Sunday before the season of advent - this day is now often called "Stir-up Sunday" and you are supposed to give everyone in the fanily the opportunity to stir the pudding mix.

Make a Wish
Once all of the ingredients have been added each member of the family can make a wish whilst stirring the pudding and you can then add various different items.

Lucky Sixpence
A sixpence or other small coin is added and it is believed that whoever receives this serving will receive wealth over the coming year. Some families use the same coin year after year, with some coins apparently being used for over 50 years!

Other Traditions
Other symbolic items that have been rumoured to be added are a wishbone (for luck), a ring (for marriage), and a thimble (for thrift) but we do not believe that these are quite as popular as a silver coin.

Available from Stock
We have sixpences available at almost any price you wish to pay. I suppose it depends on whether you plan on buying another every year!

Notes
We can also supply better condition specimens of any type, if required, prices vary according to grade, type and date.
We have seen sixpence offers supplied by other companies, usually at much higher prices than ours (x 2 to x 10!). In addition to being much more expensive, they have often been cleaned very badly using abrasives which actually ruins the coins. We do not normally clean our coins, and on the rare occasions we do, then we do so very carefully and sympathetically.
