One Ounce Silver Bullion Coins
Australia first issued a one ounce silver bullion coin, the Kookaburra, in 1990.
In 1999, it was decided to issue a silver Chinese Lunar Year series of silver bullion coins, following the success of the gold versions which started in 1996. For the lunar series, a one kilo size was introduced, presumably following the success of the one kilo Kookaburras.
8 Sizes of Silver Bullion Coins
The silver Lunar Calendar series are produced in weights of half ounce, one ounce, two ounce, five ounces, ten ounces, half kilo, one kilogramme (31.1 ounces), and ten kilogramme. The 5 ounce and half kilo versions were only introduced starting in 2004, and the ten kilo was only produced in 2006 and then again in 2007.
